PictishKiwi is a platform to help the History and Heritage Community, primarily in Aotearoa New Zealand to manage projects, develop resources and network/collaborate.

It is an eclectic setup that can provide educational materials for Museum programmes, History and Social Studies curriculum resources for schools, basic website hosting, research and in future will offer educational heritage tours in NZ and internationally.

This website will develop organically over the next few months.

PictishKiwi is owned and operated by Grant Collie.

Grant is bringing together his varied life journey from his Scottish homeland to a long relationship with the heritage of Aotearoa New Zealand. Based equally between the Rangitikei and the Waikato, Grant is a working teacher in the Digital Humanities.

After a couple of decades travelling the world as a theatre and live music Lighting Designer/Production Manager, he arrived in Aotearoa in the late 1990's to work as resident LD for Opera New Zealand. This led to a secondment to the opening team at Te Papa Tongarewa and a change in career to the museum sector for the next decade.

A Postgraduate qualification in Museum Studies and work as a Museum Consultant and Director in Aotearoa and Australia showed a disconnect between heritage pedagogy in museums and schools which led to Grant to undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) and maybe surprisingly he found that he enjoyed working with students so much that another career change was the result!

An MA (History) from Massey University has honed his research skills and
PictishKiwi is hopefully the vessel that helps support clients in very diverse projects.
